Bang
"one from you" chants the fairy
Bang
"two for me"
Bang
"Come out my friends I have something for you"
Bang
"fourth to go almost time"
Bang
"for you to meet these friends of mine"
Bang
Bang
"six and seven what a treat"
Bang
"Im sure they'll want you for a treat"
Bang
The Fairy smiles eerily looking around
Bang
"its almost time"
Bang
"11 can you hear them moan?" from the distance you hear the moans getting louder
BANG!
"Midnight!" Screams the Fairy, "Oh I hope they arent too hungry there arent many of you here" from behind you you hear the moan increasing and a shuffle of feet. "Welcome my friends" Calls the fairy, "I brought you a treat", she looks at you impatiently "well arent you going to say hi?"

Tips on How to Help Your Child if They are Being Bullied: A Guest Post

As a mom to three girls, and a victim of bullying myself I understand the affects of being bullied . I have come here today to bring you are a few tips on how to handle the situation if your child is being bullied at school, but these tips apply if they are being bullied anywhere.

Tips on how to handle bullying at school

Please know that you should not ignore bullying, and that doing so could cause low self esteem, and self confidence issues . You should help him or her learn how to deal with bullying . here are some helpful tips .

1. Being there for your child while they are being picked on is very important and always listen with an open heart and mind. Try to stay calm and let them know that you are a team, and that you will work together to solve this problem and that they can come to you and talk to you at any time .

2. Teach your child how to handle bullying. Do NOT encourage fighting, let them know that you should never hit or lash out if someone is bullying you, that there are proper avenues to take. Encourage your child to find friends to hang out with that will not pick on him or her. Friends who will support your child will lessen the chance on being picked on.

3. Teach being more assertive. Let them know that it is okay to tell people no even if they are their friends; to be true to themselves, and their beliefs. Sometimes your child may be being picked on by their friends because their friends are trying to get them to do things they know are wrong.

4. Contact the School. Let the school know you are having issues contact the school principal, teacher and or school counsellor. If physical harm as come to child call them right away and file a report.

5. Help your child increase their self esteem. Have your child in sports, music , art, extra curriculum activities that will build character and work on social skills . Encouage your child to make friends with the kids that behave in the classroom instead of the ones who get into a lot of trouble .

6. Seek out professional help. If nothing seems to be getting done get help to deal with anxiety and help with emotions and let the school know you are not going to be putting up with your child being picked on . Always remind your child that they are never alone in this and that you are working to get everything worked out and that you love them very much .

Here is also a helpful website to help stop bullying

http://www.stopbullying.gov/

If your school refuses to help you may have to have the police involved so be prepared, it might take that action to make your child feel safe if the school refuses to help. However please use this as a last resort measure, most schools have an anti-bully policy and will help you.

Money Saving Monday ~ Earth Day

In honor of Earth Day, here's a list of some things that I personally do to help the Earth. Most of these help my wallet also! A couple of these are a little embarrassing for me to tell strangers, but if someone can learn a new way to help our environment from it, I guess it can be alright!

All things cloth: diapers, wipes, “mama cloth”, towels (not paper towels), grocery sacks, and produce bags. There are things that I have NOT ventured into, such as what some call “family cloth”, aka, cloth toilet paper. I haven't switched over to cloth snack bags (my husband mostly uses them for lunches at work and since his lunches get stolen sometimes, I'd rather have something disposable in there), but I do wash out the plastic baggies and reuse!

Cleaning: Already mentioned towels, but just wanted to throw it out there that you may have seen these amazing things called “un-paper towels”, I have never tried them, nor do I plan to because I have these other amazing things called “old t-shirts” and “rags”. If you're looking to save money, don't spend it on something you probably already have in your home. I also use a steam mop! I love it, it cleans and I am using zero chemicals!

Reuse: I very rarely buy things new. Reusing or re-purposing an item reduces waste and means that the thing you needed didn't need to be made brand new in a factory, causing pollution and using up energy and even gasoline for transportation. Looking for something specific? Check thrift stores, Craigslist, yard sales, even Ebay for used items instead of buying new.

Local: Have to buy something? Try and buy local. This revisits the pollution idea of transportation of items. The recent jump in gas has also led to a jump in some basic necessities too, and you may get it cheaper buying locally anyway! Buying from local businesses means your money is staying in your town and it's just an awesome thing to do regardless!

Basics: Turn the lights off and open the windows when the sun is out. Turn the TV off if you aren't watching anything. Go for a walk around the block instead of going for a drive. Eat a vegetarian meal once a week. Recycle what you can. Only run your dishwasher when it is full. Don't stand with the fridge door open all the time. Plan your meals and eat your leftovers. Wear more layers if you are cold, wear tank tops and shorts if you are hot. Drink water from the tap (or a filter) instead of bottled water, soda, or even milk. Turn the light off when you leave a room. Simple things like this do make a difference, in your bills and in your wonderful world!

Merry Savings to all and to all some spare change,
Laura

Savvy Online Grocery Shopping: Tips and Tricks from A Frugal Blogger

How much do you spend on staples? I don't mean the actual little metal things that hold paper together, I am talking food items you use all the time, and not only food, but shampoo, conditioner, soap, and cleaning supplies as well. Do you drive to the store to buy them? Have you ever thought about ordering online? If you haven't yet the first thing you should read is our post about tips and tricks for shopping online it will help you with the basics.

Now those basic tips and tricks are extremely useful but I want to take a closer look at stuff you would find at the Grociery store. Now Im going to be honest your not always gonna find the best deal online, and sometimes youll do much better at a store with a coupon so I will tell you my Golden Rule when it comes to shopping for grocieries online.

If it cost less to get it online (including shipping) then it would cost at the store (plus the gas to drive there) and its something you will use get it!

You will save yourself the drive, and the time. this does take some savvy shopping but y'all are smart right so lets talk about those tips and tricks we love!

1. First off keep in mind you are not going to be able to find everything for a good deal online, so you need to have a general idea of what the item your purchasing would normally cost you at the store that way you can compare the prices, and another thing, you want to look for non-perishables, not things like milk, meat, ect. Also remember things take time to ship so buying something when you need it ASAP is a big NO!

2. Speaking of shipping make sure you read what the shipping cost you need to include this in your out if pocket cost cause it can make or break the deal. Pay attention to sites like Amazon which has free 2 day shipping with its prime program.

3. Google search, remember that tip from our other post about searching the item it applies here as well, google shopping is a valuable tool and its easy to do as well. Search the item on Google. Then click the tab that says 'shopping', and sort by price low to high. Doing so makes it easy to compare the prices of an item online.

4. Look on sites like SlickDeals.net which will tell you about some fabulous deals and how to get them, also facebook pages/sites like Penny Pinching Polly, and The Daily Goodie Bag, as well as our own page which will post when there are good deals especially on Amazon.

5. Learn your termonology, knowing things like subscribe and save on amazon can save you a pretty penny! Alot of grocieries on amazon are eligable for subscribe and save where if you subscribe to get the items every x amount of months they will take a percentage off the price. The way you make this awesome? You can cancel at any point, after you get your order. Remember however to keep track because you dont want them to auto charge you because you forgot to cancel.

6. Another repeat, Get money back when you shop, by using ebates.com to earn cash back when shopping online. It is pretty simple to use. Go to ebates and register or login. Then find the shop on their list you want to go to. When you go to the site through their site, you will get a percentage back in cash from the money you spent.

7. Read the item detail carefully, remember the downfall is you cant touch it and see the sizes so look at ounces, weight ect. and then find a similar ounced/weight item in your household so you can get an idea on the size your getting.

8. Make sure there is no way to sweeten the deal remember how we told you to look for extra coupons? This applies here as well.

9. This one is going to sound weird.. but if its not right dont feel bad about complaining, sadly I have gotten boxes from Amazon that were in bad shape, and I let them know and they gave me free credit, I am in no way saying complain just to get free credits! What I mean is if something is wrong let the companies know they want to help you!

10. Keep an eye out for promos, you would not believe what you can get for free, or really cheap if you pay attention. I recently got 16 rolls of toilet paper, 4 bottles of shampoo, 4 bottles of conditioner, and 2 trial size bottles of body wash for free, all because of a promo I found online. You might just find a great deal.

11. Deal sites, remember the sites we told you about on the other post the deal ones where you got free credit? Watch them for deals on credits for sites to buy grocieries, and cleaning supplies on. I got a deal on mamapedia once for dollar days, I dont remember the exact amount but it was like $10 for $20 worth of stuff on dollardays with free shipping. Thanks to that I got a ton of laundry detergent for free (thanks to credits).

Some Great sites to find grocieries and cleaning supplies on
DollarDays (this one is good when they have promos other wise shipping is attrocious)
Walmart.com (sometimes you can find great deals on here, watch slickdeals)
Soap.com (another great one to keep an eye out for promo codes for)

Remember its all about taking the time to look you can do it! Have questions? Feel free to post Im happy to help!

And the winner is...

And the winner is...

Congrats! I will email you and you have 24 hours to reply or I will have to pick a new winner.

How to make really cute Faux Fabergé eggs

Normally I only post on thrifty Thursday post but I saw this on Disney's site after posting the Lucky Rabbit Feet post and had to share :)

Materials
  • Toothpicks
  • 2 1/2 inch foam egg
  • stiff paintbrush
  • tacky glue
  • Glitter
  • Colorful plastic beads or jewels
  • 6-inch pipe cleaners
  • pencil

Instructions
1.To make each one, first stick 3 toothpicks into one end of a 2-1/2-inch foam egg to create a temporary stand.
2. Use a stiff paintbrush to spread a thin layer of tacky glue on the egg.
3. Then sprinkle on a coating of glitter. When the glitter has set securely, glue on colorful plastic beads or jewels in a pattern of your liking. (You can use another toothpick or a pin to pick up and set the beads in place.) Allow the egg to dry completely before removing the toothpicks.
4. To make a stand for your egg, first twist together the ends of a 6-inch length of pipe cleaner to form a 1-1/2-inch-diameter ring. Now make the stand's legs. One at a time, fold 3 more 6-inch pipe cleaner pieces in half around a pencil and twist together the 2 halves, leaving an inch or so of the ends free, as shown.
5. Remove the pencil and twist the free ends around the pipe cleaner ring. Finally, bend up the loops to create the stand's feet.

Savvy Online Shopping: Tips and Tricks from 2 Frugal Bloggers

I love shopping online, you can find so many amazing deals. Be it through amazon, ebay, deal sites like mamapedia, or even big store sites like walmart.com. It is amazing what deals can be found. Sometimes, however, it can be a bit overwhelming. A deal can seem amazing until you get it and find out it's no good. So my darling friend (who is one of the Co-owners of The Daily Goodie bag) and I got together, to make you a post about how to find the best deals, tips to make sure they are fabo and real, and some great sites to look on.

You can find deals all over the net. We usually do searches for deals we like, and keep an eye on blogs that post about good deals (like we do, and like TDGB does). These are great launching points when looking for deals. Once you find a deal here are some tips and tricks to make sure you get the best of the best!

  1. Don't think just cause its on a deal site it is a deal. Do some research on the item, sometimes you can find it for cheaper than the "deal" or for the same price with cheaper shipping.
  2. A Great way to do this is to search the item on Google. Then click the tab that says 'shopping', and sort by price low to high. Doing so makes it easy to compare the prices of an item online. Make sure to pay attention to shipping, some sites will charge high shipping on a low price to trick you.
  3. Pay attention to shipping fees. This is especially important on sites like Mamapedia where you buy the certificate and then use the certificate code on the site. Make sure to find out what the shipping is, the last thing you want to do is find a smashing deal only to find out that shipping is uber expensive.
  4. Pay attention to the Fine Print, read the deal carefully. A deal may look like a gem, until you read the fine print. It is also often, where you will find the shipping.
  5. Ask yourself, can I make it better? Ok let's face it, most of the time the deal is the best your getting, but that doesn't mean you can't get better. I got a deal for books, it was $15 for a $30 code. Pretty sweet right? Well, I did a little search for coupons on the site and ended up finding a code that gave you 20% off with free shipping on your first purchase for joining their mailing list. I would have had to pay shipping, but because I did the research I got more books plus free shipping, which made my order much more of a deal.
  6. So take the time to search for coupons you can use with the deal. I love retailmenot.com, but a simple search on Google can bring up a lot of good information. If you are looking for coupons, just search the sites name and coupon, for instance “jcpennys.com coupons”. You never know what you may find, and it is worth the time it takes to search.
  7. Get money back when you shop, by using ebates.com to earn cash back when shopping online. It is pretty simple to use. Go to ebates and register or login. Then find the shop on their list you want to go to. When you go to the site through their site, you will get a percentage back in cash from the money you spent. Once again pay attention to the fine print!
  8. Payments; If you have to pay, paypal is your best bet, however, some sites do not take paypal. In circumstances like that, your next best bet is a prepaid credit card with a low balance. If you have to use your debit/credit card that isn’t prepaid, make sure the site is secure, look to make sure it says https:// on the web address. If you are not sure if the sites legit do a Google search with the sites name and the word scam like so “Macys.com scam” if it is a scam 9 times out of 10 something will come up about it on Google search.
  9. Are you a member of Swagbucks? If you are a member look on Swagbucks offer wall sometimes if you click into the site via Swagbucks you can earn Swagbucks for your purchase!

Types of Sites to look for:

Sites that give you credit for joining. If a site will give you credit for joining you should join even if you don’t buy anything right away, right? Some sites only give credit during promotions so you want to get it when you can. The following sites give you credit for joining.

  • Mamapedia ~ gives you $5 credit if you join under a current member
  • Gaggle of Chicks ~ gives you $10 credit if you join under another member, $5 if you just join through the site.
  • NoMoreRack: gives you $10 credit, must join go to “my account” then click apply “redeem a gift card” and put in the code P1070
  • Rue La La: Currently has a promotion till April 25th where if you join you get a $20 credit, hurry and join on this one cause the credit will stay in your account but you have to join before the promotion ends.

Sites that you get freebies for sending friends:

  • ShopItToMe: Get 10 friends to join and you get a free $10 gift card you chose where its from they have several options (Macys, Starbucks, Jamba Juice, Old Navy, and many, many, more)
